Gladwyne Montessori serves children from 6 weeks to 12 years, across Infant, Toddler, Primary, and Lower and Upper Elementary. You can ask us directly about openings, tuition, schedules, class sizes, and how to apply.
Starting in late September, our admissions team offers in-person tours of our classrooms and facilities. You will see a Montessori classroom next to a traditional one and hear how the research-based approach works as you walk through our centuries-old schoolhouse. Tours are a good time to ask questions and tell us about your family. Summer tours can be scheduled by emailing admissions@gladwyne. org.
In a Montessori classroom, children choose work from open shelves and stay with it until they are done. Teachers observe and give lessons one at a time or in small groups. The room is calm, with natural light on wood and baskets of real objects. Mornings hold one long, uninterrupted work cycle, so children sink into a task instead of being rushed to the next thing.
When the day is paced this way, children practice deciding, concentrating, and finishing. You might notice your child setting the table without being asked, or narrating the steps of a puzzle they solved. These small moments of independence build over weeks. The practical benefit is a child who can start something on their own and carry it through.
